Scanning Process Overview
The scanning process in the software is divided into five categories: Health Report, Restoration, Implant, Orthodontics, and Denture.
Health Report Scanning Process The health report scanning process is similar to the Restoration and Orthodontics processes, involving the upper jaw, lower jaw, and occlusal data. The difference is that during the optimization process, the AI algorithm automatically detects areas of concern based on the 3D shape of the teeth and images. After the doctor’s confirmation, these areas can be quickly added to the health report for easier reference.
Restoration Scanning Process Restoration scanning is one of the most commonly used processes in the oral scanning software. It requires scanning the upper jaw, lower jaw, and occlusal data separately. The initial scanning position can be selected in the software settings to be either the upper or lower jaw. In restoration mode, depending on the condition of the teeth to be restored, either a partial scan or a full mouth scan can be performed.
Implant Scanning Process The implant scanning process builds on the restoration scanning process and adds the scan body step. The scan body data obtained will be sent to the lab for precise localization of the implant's depth and orientation, providing the foundation for designing the abutment and crown.
Orthodontic Scanning Process The orthodontic process requires scanning the full mouth. To meet the requirements of various orthodontic manufacturers, in addition to scanning the teeth, some gum and adjacent data must be captured as well. The occlusal scan needs to be performed on both the left and right cheeks to obtain more accurate occlusal relationships.
Dentures Scanning Process The dentures scanning process is a new feature in the latest software version. It includes scans for edentulous upper jaw, edentulous lower jaw, denture upper jaw, denture lower jaw, and occlusion. This process helps the dentist efficiently capture the occlusal height for edentulous arches. If the patient does not have temporary dentures, wax rims can be used to achieve the same result by following the same steps to capture the occlusal height for the edentulous arches.
